Repoters and Rhetoric

According to Geoffrey Cowan, essay he agrees with George Orwell about "Politics and the English Language. George Orwell states that people should be careful of the way
that English Language is display especially the way it could be written and this reminds use that Orwell states that the English Language should be short but clear. Geoffrey Cowan essay explain his views about the English Language as a journalist. He states that you have to be careful of the choice of words, because every word you write or say can be examine under the microscope. Geoffrey Cowan states that words flows around the world quickly. He states "wars are decisive moments of truth. but we really don't know what the real truth is. Cowan states that what ever a journalist report should be accuracy and true.
I agree with both the writers, in order to have good accurrate information, we need to "truth" and not fabacated information. When writing English Language repoters need to keep the rhetoric out of the story and kept it short and percise.
I think this was a very important essay because it back up George Orwell essay up about Politic and The English Language. The six rule needs also need to be applied.

Welcome to the Infotainment Freak Show

According to the essay by Martin Kaplan, "Welcome to the Infotainment Freak Show" He states that the media is not reporting news that can inform people of revelant information. Kaplan states "news" isn't news nowadays, the media worry about bringing entertainment,so they can accummulating more audiences so they would have higher ratings, with this it brings more money. Martin Kaplan writes,"That media will report about someone who is famous, just to hold and grab the audiences attention. He also report that the internet is what people relie on these days, but how do we know if this offcial information.
I agree with Martin Kaplan, I think that the media does focus more on the rich and famous, like Paris Hilton for instances, how she had to turn herself into jail. I think America media has lost their focus on the real life issues. Like how the economy is declining each day, people are losing their jobs, and becoming homeless.
I think America needs to come back to reality and deal with the issues that at hand.By reading this essay it made me realize how the media can persude you to believe that other things is important.

The Limis of Language

What Orwell didn't know by George Orwell, The Limits of Languge by Nicholas Lemann
In this essay Orwell talks about the propose of english in politic. Many who is in Politics they use alot of rhetoric, which they never speak in leaman terms, or they never use striaght talk. It is said that there is "corruption of language" because most of the news are accessible throught the internet and many other ways.
Many people believe what is written on the internet without giving a second though if we are receiving honest information. Orwell saying that language sometime can't always be trusted, He states that it depends on where we get are news source from, because the news that we receives may be a risk. I agree with Orwell that we have to be aware of the language that is being used in politic because we may not be able to understand it. We also should be caution where we get are news source because we are taking a big risk. I think this is a very importance advise. This is a good relible information he should have wrote in his essay, this is good tips how to us english language. He aslo includes that people should be aware where you get your news information.

What Orwell Didn't Know

In the reading of what Orwell Didn't Know, George Orwell talks about politic and the English language. He inform his readers, when you are writing in the English language, people should write clearly and in Lehman terms,so where everyone can understand. Orwell said if you use difficult words, people wouldn't be able to follow those readings. He gives six simply rules for writing, in which this will make a person keep their writing short, clear, and understandable.

I agree with George Orwell that writing should be short and precise, and if we go by his six rules we could become better writer by using shorter word, and just getting to the point. I think by Orwell writing this in his book it give me a little more confident in my writing and many others. I was very surprise that he used a bible scripture to inform his readers that writing in this form is nothing new.

9 FBOP Banks Closed

California National In R.C Now U.S. Bank, This article was found in the Daily Bulletin,Sunday November 1, 2009. According to the staff and wire reports Reagulators had to close nine more national banks due to the loan defaults. Majority of these banks were located in Southern California. By these banks closing, boost the number of failing bank to 115 this year. California National Bank has 153 offices which the government reopen on Saturday under the name U.S Bank Branches. FDIC spoke man David Barr said it will feel like a merger for customer.I agree that the U.S Bank comming in and taking over, so people will not lose their money. These stories is starting to become very typical. Personally, I don't trust the banking system anymore. This take me back to Indy mac when customer wasn't aware that government were taking the bank over because of default loans. This was a sad day for many, most people lost their funds. FDIC only insure them up to $150,000 and the rest of their money was lost. My question is how do people start trusting again? What will the banks do to draw people back as customer? I think this was a good article to publish in the newspaper because this is a reminder that people need to be careful with how much money they put in the bank. This also inform us that we are still in recession.

NATO may hike troops: Afghanistan aid is mulled

This article was written by Lara Jakes and Slobodan Lekic, Saturday, october 24,2009 published by the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
According to this article NATO and the United Nation Officials they are asking for more international troops to be place in Afghanistan. President Obama has yet made a decision. The troops are needed to eliminate terrorist threats by the Taliban and another part is to protect people in the local communities of Afghan. I understand that this is a nation to protect and serve, but under the circumstance that are own country in a recession, I disagree with NATO and United Nation Officials. I personally don't think more money should be wasted on this "war". This has being taking place for nine years. I think Obama should just end this war and bring all the troops home. Why should the war continue when they don't know the reason why their fighting the war in the first place. Really, I think we have our own war going on in America that needs a lot of attention. We have a lot of people who is homeless and losing their jobs everday. I think this was a very important article and a very important issues that should have been addressed, because Americans need to know where taxes payer money is being distribe.

Maria Shriver Schwarzenegger was caught on tape using a cell phone on July 12 and oct 11, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger said the issue has been dealt with. Now Maria is saying she is going to donate her old cell phone to a program that helps domestic violence victims. On a personal note, I disagree with decision Maria made,She talking about donating her cell phone to a program. I think this is a joke. I feel like she need to pay a citation violation, just like any other citizen. Maria Shriver-Schwarzenegger need to set a example for the rest Califorinan.

Job competition at toughest level since recession began

This article was written by Christopher S. Rugaber on Saturday October 10, 2009 posted in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. According to the write-up Christopher Rugaber reported that 6.3 aspirants to 1, which it mean that their are 6.3 million people who are unemployed competing for 1 job. He states that since the recession began in December 2007, 7.2 million jobs were cut. Since the layoffs are slowing down, and the hiring process has yet to recover. Shierholz said the economy faces a "jobs gap" almost 10 million, in order to close that gap and go into a pre-recession the economy would have to create 500,000 jobs in two years. Economists states there are several reason why companies are not hiring. I agree with the writer many people are competing for 1 job. There are many people I know have been layoff work for one year, due to competition in the workforce. I think this doesn't only effect the people I know but this is effecting a lot of people around the world. I feel that the government should give some of these companies a little more incentive like a tax break so they can start hiring again. I know the stimulus was suppose to help, but we see that it never trickled down. I think this was a good article to publish because people need to be updated about unemployment, the increase and decrease in jobs.

Repeat Molester gets more time

Repeated Child Molester gets more prison time
This article was published by Inland Valley DailyBullein, on Sunday, October 4, 2009
In this article it talk about a repeated child molester, who go by the name of Dennis James Ward. Dennis lived in the Orange County area. The newspapers states that Dennis Ward was up for parole in 2007. Dennis was a 3rd time offender of molestation. Dennis was previous serving 12-23 year in prison for molesting a relative. Ward was given additional 29 year in the state prison.
By reading this article I have very mix feeling about the judicial system. I believe that if a person is let out of the prison on the secord offense of molesting children, there is something wrong with the judicial system. This man has detroyed many children lives, even one of his own relative. I agree with the judge by given Dennis Ward more time, but I feel like the judge didn't give him enough time. 29 years is not enough tim for this man to serve, I think he should had received a life sentence, because these children have to suffer for the rest of their lives. I don't believe in judging anyone but in this case when it come to children, I am willing to put my personal beliefs to the side.

Overdraft fees

In the artical about "Banks will Alter fees " By Candice Choi," which I found this artical in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin, it states that many banks will start offering opt out program. Opt out program will help many people save hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees. This also means instead of paying $35 per overdrift, you will paying $1o per overdrift. This program will start in Octorber of 2009 for some banks. Why is this program being incorporated? because many people has experience having more overdraft fees while being in this recession. The bank was charging customer $35 per transaction. For example if you purchase something for $13.65 and you only had $13.00 in your bank account, you would have been charge a overdrift fee for that 65 cent that you didn't have in the bank. The reason for the change, Capitol Hill has many of these banks under survillence. Before this program was introduce, banks was asking their customer to link up their checkings to their savings to avoid overdrift fees. Many banks are not happy about this program and are not going to offer it. The artical goes on to say, if customer was to opt out the customer will have very little penalty.
Do I agree or disagree with the banks who are going to incorporate this opt out program. Yes I do agree with this opt out program. I feel that the banks should have incorporated this program a long time ago. Capitol Hill shouldn't have waited until now, they should had the banks under scrutiny a long time ago. The bank have been getting away with leagal robbery, I know this because I was one of their victim. Once I had direct deposit with a bank and they stole my money with my eyes open. The reason why I state this because they charge me $300 in overdrift fees, which it is impossible that a person can ocurr charges up in hundreds. This is not fair to anyone who have there trust in the banking system. We as the people have little deceation over how the banks handled our money, once your money has been deposit.
